A Concrete Pump Operator inspects, prepares, operates, controls, and cleans various concrete pumps. Concrete pumps may be truck mounted, stationary, trailer mounted as well as tower concrete placing booms. The operator uses a remote control to maneuver the boom to the desired location to transfer the liquid concrete.

Apprenticeship Program

OETIO offers a Concrete Pump Operator apprenticeship program at its Morrisburg location. This program is 160 hours over 20 days.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinates the placement of concrete through a pump

  • Loads and unloads concrete pumps and attachments

  • Sets up concrete pumps, components and concrete delivery system

  • Operates concrete pumps and related components

  • Monitors equipment performance and the movement of the concrete to the pour location

  • Resolves issues and maintains the equipment

  • Performs pre-operational inspections, safety and operational checks and preventative maintenance

  • Communicates through various techniques including hand signals

Journeyperson Wage Rate:

$62.49/hr
